Hello, dear friend!

I’m Stephanie Rose, founder of Garden Therapy® and a master gardener, herbalist, and award-winning author of 13 books. For the past 20 years, I’ve explored how gardens and plants can heal, inspire, and help us connect with the earth, with ourselves, and with each other.

What’s in Season, my weekly newsletter, is where I write to you directly, sharing reflections from inside the garden gates, and from my heart. You’ll find seasonal insights, herbal projects, mindful practices, and ideas that help us grow, both in our gardens and in our lives. It’s my personal space to explore what matters most in gardening, creativity, and everyday magic.

It’s no exaggeration to write that gardening saved me.

After a sudden headache became a debilitating illness that kept me confined to bed for almost 2 years, I used gardening as my path to a new life. While gardening was my way to escape chronic pain and the grief I was experiencing, writing helped me find a community of gardeners who celebrated the joy of plants and the earth in a way that connected us.

You can read more about my Garden Therapy story here.

What began as five quiet minutes in the garden two decades ago has now grown into a community of millions. So much has changed over those years, but the need to connect with plants, the earth, and the people who protect them has not.

More than ever, we need grounding and the encouragement to bloom. That is what has led me here, to What’s in Season, my most personal space yet to reflect, explore, and grow together.
