Hello friend,

May has been treating me well so far. With a nice stretch of warm weather, I’ve begun my annual migration to living outdoors as much as possible.

Every winter, we naturally take rest. We bundle ourselves in blankets, and our souls gravitate toward warmth and comfort. But then spring arrives, and something begins to open again.

The bulbs push through the soil, the trees soften with new leaves, and that energy that’s been quietly stored away inside all winter begins to find a home outdoors.

I feel that energy shift in myself every May.

It feels expansive, like stepping out from beside the fire and stretching arms wide open to the world again. It’s a migration to the outdoor lifestyle, where we return to fresh air and longer, warmer evenings.

Slowly, my routines begin to move outdoors with me. My laptop finds its way to the deck. Outdoor cushions are washed and fluffed. Morning coffees turn into chats with neighbours in the front yard.

By the summer, I spend as much time outside as possible. Sometimes that means sleeping under the stars while camping for weeks at a time. At home, I’m always finding little ways to create outdoor spaces that invite rest and play.

Now is a great time to look at your space before it gets too hot and see how you can revitalize it. A small corner, a quiet chair, a table tucked under a tree.

What can you do with the little spaces in your garden? I hope the ideas below spark your own little migration this week.
